The Works of Gordon Haddon Clark (Modern Philosopy, Vol 5)

see relatedkarma, maya, hinduism and pantheism
Some simple (perhaps over-simplistic) questions I would pose to the Pantheist or Hindu:
Why should people avoid bad karma, if karma is only an illusion (maya)?
Why should you seek to go do good, when goodness is only maya?
What motivation is there for morality at all? If maya is true, morality is simply an illusion, and the faster you get rid of it, the better.
Or is it to advance the cause of reincarnation? But why should one advance the cause of reincarnation if it is ultimately maya? And since person-hood "dies" at death, why should one bother about improving one's reincarnationary standing?
If reincarnation is true, and every life evolved from a previous life-form, why is the world's population increasing?
If reincarnation (and evolution) is true, and you extrapolate backwards to the very first single creature that appears... when that creature dies, what does it reincarnate into? (Surely it cannot reincarnate into its own offspring)
If reincarnation is true, and I do evil things now, I might become a housefly in my next life. What good can I do as a housefly so that I become human again?
Discuss.

Yes, Pantheism and Hinduism are not coherent belief systems. I couldn't help but to chuckle at the housefly doing good. Is it better for the fly that it brave the house full of people set on swatting the fly so that the fly can provide for its future young by feeding therein? Or it is better that the fly deny itself and remain outside where it is less likely to be eaten by a frog, lizard or some other animal and provide food for it? Which would be good for the fly?
As silly as this seems, unfortunately many Christians consider morality in the same way. To whit, the focus of doing good is on the one who does good or the one for whom good it done rather than on God from whence all good comes to his glory.

Here is the sad product of Van Tillian/Neo-Orthodox theology. I have no choice but to leave ... :(
Any thoughts?
Exactly. If evolution and reincarnation are both true, then why have the number of life forms on earth increased? There was once just one single-celled organism, and now there are billions of living things. Where are these new souls coming from?
